We are embracing the month of September by reading about apples. Our story this week was about the parts of an apple and discussed the core, seeds, stem and leaf. We then made our own 3D apples. This was a bit of a challenge and we applaud how well our kiddos tried.

After listening to “A House for Hermit Crab” during Writer’s Workshop, we added details to a plain shell to make it more interesting. During this first grade year, we hope to write with adjectives, which add detail and excitement to our stories.

We took advantage of the beautiful weather and practiced writing numbers through 20 in chalk, wrote “CVC” words outdoors and played “Scoot” while we solved math facts.

We finished our ocean poster and think it looks fabulous!

Enjoy the weekend!
