Max Kret… Young Chess Prodigy

Well… Remember when I said summer makes its final, desperate flourish in September? What a *scorching* October week. Grandparents were able to witness our beautiful campus during the turning of the season, killer bees, and mid-summer sun in October! Welcome! Also, games with grandparents gave way to games with teachers. Young Max Kret gave me my proudest but most devastating experience as a teacher. He beat me in chess… twice.

  • English w/ Mr. Rouse- Students had a more relaxed week as we are in a between period for books. We covered some recurring grammar rules in the summaries I took a look at. We also did a few creative writing exercises. Soon, we will be starting the book, Refugee, and the school will be providing the copies.
  • Pre-Algebra w/ Mrs. Boldrick – Pre-Algebra w/ Mrs. Boldrick – After a lot of practice, some frustration, and hard work, the students improved with doing order of operations with integers. They deserve a pat on the back, they worked diligently to understand the process. While the 8th grade students are away in Floriday, the rest of the class will continue to practice using and understanding integers and do some more work with order of operations.
  • Science w/ Mrs. Farris – We played a marsbound board game to celebrate the success of our first science test! Students were given a budget and time limit to design a mission. They had to work together to track budget, weight, and electrical capabilities. Next we will begin our learning journey of cells!
