Tuesday, October 31st – Fall Family Fest: Haven’t you always wished that there was a field day in the Fall?  A chance to come hang out with your kids, their teachers, and fellow parents and enjoy the changing leaves around campus?  Us too!  So we decided to make it happen with Fall Family Fest.  The WCDS Inaugural Fall Family Fest will be held on October 31st from 1:20-3:00 for 2nd-8th grades.

After lunch, children can change into costumes before the festivities begin. Parents, please join us for an afternoon of fun at the middle school branch campus anytime after 1:00.  We will begin our parade around the pool as soon as the children arrive at the park led by our grand marshals Ms. H and Maddie Kirchner, the winner of the Grand Marshal auction prize. Then, the children will rotate through different stations with their classmates.

Friday, November 3 – No School

Tuesday, November 7 – Middle School Exhibition @ 5:00 pm (More info to come)

English w/ Mr. Rouse – Students wrapped up two major writing assignments for the book I Must Betray You. One assignment was a choice between A Letter to America or Epilogue #2, and this assignment was for them to portray a confrontation we didn’t get to see at the end of the book- or, they were to write a letter to America following the format of a poem in the book titled, A Letter From Romania. Please Note: Students need to have a copy of the book, We Are Not Free by Traci Chee.

Music with Ms. Chelsey- Students presented their Sound Bath topic research, and we did a deep listening exercise of cross cultural music composed specifically to slow the heart rate, promote wellness, and activate brain waves. They listened and wrote down how each song made them feel, what it made them think of, and their general experience with the power music can have on the brain and body.

Deep Dive w/ Mr. Jividen and Mrs. McFadden- We are less than 3 weeks away from our first exhibition of the year. The students are working to complete their graphic novel, as they transition toward the final project. We can’t wait to share what we’ve learned with you!
