Thank you all for coming to our Inaugural Fall Family Fest! We hope you enjoyed a new tradition and have some new memories to take with you!

This week in language arts, students challenged their comprehension skills by completing assignments online. They were given differentiated texts to read, answer questions, and learn new vocabulary. Students also worked on revising answers to make sure they submitted their best work. They were also tasked with restating the question within their answers. This is an important skill which they will use throughout their lives! It can be tedious and time-consuming, so help us encourage them to give their best effort.

During Brainology, the students continued working in teams to create a Growth Mindset lesson to teach to other grades. Groups will be presenting next Monday and Wednesday, so stay tuned to see if the students have become the teachers. Our time in Government was cut short due to all the fall festivities; however, the students were still able to find some time to learn more about the process of a bill becoming a law. Students were divided into groups of three to try and pass their own bills through a series of challenges. They played a board game that challenged their understanding of previously learned concepts and vocabulary.

We finished our “Witch” math project this week and then moved on to multi-digit multiplication. We strongly encourage all students to practice their multiplication facts for at least 10 minutes a day. We remind all students that knowing their multiplication facts will make learning the multi-digit multiplication process much easier.

“Our inaugural color run, Run In Color, is happening next week!  On November 10th, we will paint the campus and ourselves with all the colors of the rainbow.  Please remember to REGISTER HERE using the Google Form and include each participant (even yourself).  Sponsorship forms and money must be turned in on November 9th, along with the signed waivers.  We can’t wait to Run In Color”

Also, on Friday the 10th, the kids are invited to share WCDS with a friend. They may bring one prospective student to school that day. This should be a student close in age and someone interested in attending our school. Please call the office to reserve a spot in our classroom.

The faculty enjoyed learning and thinking about new ways to teach our students at the annual ISACS conference in Columbus, OH, on Friday. It was a great experience for all of us!

We hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend!
