6th Grade News:

Congratulations to the 6th graders on their first exhibition! Their projects and poems were so heartfelt, and they all were able to explain their projects with confidence and poise!

We were all pleasantly surprised at how cool seeing the White House Christmas tree was! Even though it was all wrapped up and lying down on the truck, you were able to see the top through a clear section. It really gave you a glimpse of the magnitude of this tree when you saw the 18 inch ornaments! The kids ad a blast signing the truck and having their pictures taken with Smokey the Bear and Woody Owl.

  • English w/ Mrs. McFadden – Reading “Walk Two Moons” right along with this class has been so enjoyable! I haven’t read it before, and I have loved sharing my inferences and predictions and listening to theirs as well. They are such thoughtful readers, and our smaller class allows everyone the opportunity to jump in and share their thoughts on what we are reading. We spent the week practicing executive function skills, tracking down missing assignments and doubling down on using those planners!
  • Foundations of Pre-Algebra w/ Mrs. Murray-
  • Deep Dive w/ Mr. K and Mr. Rouse
  • Music w/Mrs. Chelsey – We continued our work on playing “Silent Night” with hand drums, ukulele and keyboard. The students are doing a good job listening and focusing as we work on coming together as a music ensemble!
  • Science w/ Mrs. Farris – After celebrating fall and exploring why leaves change colors, we explored Chlorophyll in greater depth. Students discovered plants are autotrophs through the process of photosynthesis. We created models to show how the inputs and outputs enter and exit the leaf and finished the week with a fun relay race & booklet to review our learning.
