We did it, Joe! After Mr. Rouse tattled on the eighth grade, we banded together and got even. I am proud of the eighth grade boys for reaching a level of petty that Mr. Jividen can be proud of. Long live “L Damon WV” on Clash Royale.

  • English w/ Mr. Rouse- Students continued their reading of We Are Not Free and started working on thesis paragraphs again. One more day to go!
  • Algebra w/ Mrs. Murray-In algebra this week, we solved absolute value inequalities, linear inequalities, and learned about the triangle inequality theorem.  Friday, we began reviewing for our quiz on Tuesday.
  • Pre-Algebra w/ Mrs. Boldrick – We started the week learning about one-step equations using multiplication and division and then moved to reviewing one-step equations using all four operations. By Friday, they were confident with their abilities and even solved an escape room project using their algebra skills. Next week, we’ll move on to 2-step equations.
  • Deep Dive-Deep Dive-  We kicked off our WCDS Zine deep dive this week with a presentation by Dr. Christina Fisanick who presented information on what zines are, how they got their start, and the endless creative possibilities they could use in their own zines.
  • Music w/ Mrs. Chelsey – This week, we spent more time singing and learning sign language for “Silent Night”. We also did a complete dress rehearsal of our Sound Bath Meditation that the kids will be presenting. They have all done such a great job putting this together and I’m so proud of them. It’s going to be beautiful!!
  • Art w/Mr. K: I’m late to the party, but middle school art has been working with washable markers to create watercolor style art work. The subject matter was to take a skeleton and have it do something in everyday life, lol. I know, right. The other goal was to understand techniques with marker and water and see how creative they could be with a commonly white skeleton. Another great thing in class was having a guest speaker, Mandy, who is related to one of the excellent 8th-grade middle schoolers. She works at the M+ museum located in Hong Kong. She spoke about her work at the museum as the Senior Registrar for M+ and what other behind-the-scenes activities happen in museums. I’m pretty excited to get into some digital work after the break, but until then, Great job!
  • Elective w/ Mrs. Boldrick or Mr. McFadden – Design – Our class is in charge of set design for the WCDS Holiday Play. The students planned and made materials lists for their assigned set element. They might go home and ask for leftover or unused items in your household. If you are willing to part with items, we’ll take them. We’re trying to reuse and recycle items instead of purchasing new supplies.
