Hello Preschool Families!

What an incredibly magical week it was here in Preschool. The classroom was abuzz with excitement and holiday spirit as we prepared for out Winter Family Night and the upcoming Holiday! While the excitement could be seen throughout our classroom, it was also felt in ours and your children’s hearts as they eagerly awaited to share their special night with the people who matter most to them.

This week we read Jan Brett’s “Ginger Bread Baby” a fun twist on the Christmas classic “Ginger Bread Man” A story about a boy named Matti who opens the oven a bit too soon and unexpectedly lets the sneaky little gingerbread baby escape. The Gingerbread Baby leads Matti’s entire family on a wild goose chase through the village daring each character to catch him if they can! Meanwhile Matti is home building the boarders of the gingerbread house that safely tucks away the gingerbread baby in the end. Our kiddos were pleasantly pleased when they realized this gingerbread cookie did not end up in the mouth of something! The children then gathered round to learn how to make a gingerbread dough… with a little bit of apple sauce and a whole lot of Cinnamon they were well on their way to create their very own gingerbread creations!

“It really smells like cimmanom” (Cinnamon) in here! – Bohdi

“It smells delicious in here!” – Sophia

“I want to eat it but I know I can’t!” – Aubrey

What started with your children’s beautiful imaginations quickly became something more amazing than we could have ever imagined. They quite literally brought their ideas to life as they created their winter village. We hope you now see that the days of their paint caked hair, finger nails, clothing and every other crevice, was all just a glimpse into what was their creative learning and story telling. Snowflakes, Christmas bulbs, and life size gingerbread men adorned the classroom and they were in awe as we gave them a sneak peek of the room.

“WHOOOAAA” – Lucas

“It’s so beautiful!” – Parker

“You did good” – Dax – Actually, you all did good buddy!

As we prepared the other side of our room for the “power outage” we couldn’t help but take a step back and reflect on the past 4 months. Your children are truly the light in this school. They are what adds the extra glimmer to our days. They make the mundane bright. They take the ordinary and make it magical. Our hearts grew a little larger as we watched your children wave and clap with joy as we took the stage. The candle light silhouetted those extra big smiles and the twinkle in their eyes added an extra light as we watched them share their special evening with you all. As we gathered together for a snowy send off amongst the twinkling of Christmas lights, we were reminded that in the midst of darkness there is always light. So for that, we thank you. Thank you for allowing us to bask in the light that is your child.

We hope your weekend has a little extra sparkle to it!
