We started off this week on a kind note by celebrating the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. We read several books, including Martin’s Big Words by Doreen Rappaport. Inspired by the message that love wins over hate, the students created buttons, signs, and cards to help kick off our Helpful Heroes for (Sarah) Heinz House button sale. We are so excited to be supporting the Sarah Heinz House in Pittsburgh. They offer over 250 afterschool programs and classes for children of all ages, including Art, Nutrition, STEAM, and Physical Fitness. With a yearly cost of only $25, we are hoping to be able to sponsor several children membership. We ask that you show your support by either purchasing buttons (1 for $2 or 2 for $3) or by donating Art supplies. We will continue our button sale and collection through next week.

Can you believe we had a snow day this week?! We hope you all had fun outside, sledding and making new memories. The students were thrilled to have time to enjoy the snowy playground this week. We just love seeing them belly-sliding like penguins down the hill or zooming together on sleds. Even with the wet clothes and lack of drying space in our classroom, we can’t resist the moments we have together while experiencing a snow globe kind-of-day. They are simply the best!

We hope you are staying warm! See you on Monday!
