Going Bananas!

Important Dates:

  • February 9th-12th – Long winter weekend
  • Tuesday, February 13th – 10 am start
  • Wednesday, February 14th – Valentine’s Day Party – here is a class list  – Students are invited to bring in a homemade Valentine box and cards to share. This is, of course, not mandatory, but just something to add to our fun little party that day.

Our week may have been short here at WCDS, but our learning was large in second grade! We are spending our morning meetings celebrating Black History Month and learning about people like Maya Angelou, Carter G. Woodson, Ruby Bridges, and Simone Biles. We ended our week in the happiest way possible, hopping and bopping to Pharrell Williams. In phonics, we’ve learned a new sound in a pinch! We now know that “ou” says ow! In math, our mathematicians are quickly learning how to tell time and use their words to describe the time. In our human body deep dive, we are working in groups to prepare for a body system presentation. Make sure to ask your kiddo about the body system they are working on. We had another smash hit in Kids in the Kitchen, where we made banana chia seed pudding. It was delicious!! In an act of kindness, our class made birthday cards for Mr. Ron’s birthday. He is the sweet soul who makes sure our classroom is clean and ready for us every day!

Have a great long winter weekend, and we’ll see you Tuesday at 10 am!
