Hello there families!

It was a short week, but we still had so much to learn. In math, students were introduced to the world of fractions! They learned equal parts and fractions on a number line. The hits this week in math were two activities: the big inch and the fraction manipulative game. Ask your kiddo what those mean. In phonics, kiddos learned how to read and spell with the new suffix /-ly/. We also continued daily 5 stations where students read the book Penguin Chick and learned more about the Arctic region.

This week in our inventors deep dive, students studied their inventor and invention(s). They have really enjoyed this! Students brought home a paper regarding their Freeze Lab! Give it a peek as we will be starting our diorama building when we return from break (Feb 13th). We can’t wait to see you guys there. In STEAM, we started learning about simple machines. This week, we highlighted inclined planes as the basis of an activity called “Marble Races.” Students built planes using books and rulers as ramps on which to roll marbles. It was a rolling good time!
