We “breezed” through first grade this week! During our deep dive, we traveled virtually to a windmill farm where students learned how windmills work and what they do for the environment. The students were then able to create and decorate their own windmills while learning about a young boy their age who did the same! Be sure to check out the Netflix movie “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind” to hear the real story of William Kamkwamba. It is truly inspiring.

This week in math, we unlocked the secret keywords for addition and subtraction. Each of the students received their own set of keys to use while answering word problems.

Congratulations to Grace and Hazel, the winners of THE CUPCAKE WARS! Everyone did an amazing job creating their cupcakes and describing them during writing workshop.

Have a wonderful weekend!
