We fit in a lot of learning right before the upcoming break!

This week it was all about shapes! After listening to “Snake Takes Shape” we explored various 2D shapes and also guessed various shapes from riddles. We then read “The Greedy Triangle” and made “fox” shapes.

Fourth graders invited us to meet the newest members of our WCDS family-chickens! We were so impressed with the handlers as they knew SO much about their chickens! We look forward to watching them when we return from break as they will be penned right outside our building!

During our Deep dive this week, students got to be storm chasers. They were tasked with taking a ride in the eye of multiple storms. In pairs, students rotated around the room discovering various storms through the use of a scanned QR code. Students then recorded their findings in their flipbook journal. Students have enjoyed discussing the wind and weather. We look forward to beginning a new Deep Dive after Spring Break.

This week we finished up our Black history month activities. Students learned about the lives of Martin Luther King Jr., Ruby Bridges, Rosa Parks, Aretha Franklin, Jackie Robinson, and Lebron James. We also discussed what attributes make us each unique.

We finished the week celebrating the life of Dr. Seuss. We partner read his books and went on a hunt to find words with suffix -ed.

We hope you all have a wonderful Spring Break with your families.

We will see you back with an 10 am start on Monday, March 11th.
