Students finished learning about the Midwest Region of the United States with a knowledge check. Students were asked to know the States names (correct spelling), capitols (correct spelling with word bank provided), and abbreviations. As we go through the rest of the United States there will be knowledge checks like this one along the way. Practice sheets will be provided throughout the week as well as online Google Classroom games to help them study. We will also be going over different study skills and techniques to aid them throughout their future as well. We’re hoping they can begin to fine a way that works best for them!

In reading, the students have taken on the challenge of trying to think deeper while reading. They’re learning to let their curious minds take over when they read something unknown and unfamiliar and then finding connections and answers. They continue to work on vocabulary as well as comprehension to stay fresh in those skills. We will conclude the Wild Robot next week right before we head off for break!

The students have caught on to the long division process and they are having a blast doing the problems. This week, they used chalk to write and complete the long division problems on their tables. They were begging for more! We moved them to four digits divided by one digit, and they are doing very well! Next week, we’ll introduce some basic algebra concepts such as what a variable is and plugging numbers into a variable to solve equations. The students checked on their stock market prices and they all seem happy with the status of their “investments”.
