Thank you and we can’t wait to see what the kiddos have to offer this year!

Although our week wasn’t the longest, it was nothing short of sweet. We would first like to thank you all for showing up and showing out at Celebrate! It was so nice to see everyone looking fabulous on the runway. Our beautiful artwork found a lovely home with one of our very own friends. Congratulations to Ronan and the Kowcheck family for winning this beautiful, collaborative piece that these kiddos worked so extremely hard on. Speaking of our Galactic Game of Harmony, it’s beauty transformed our thinking and got our head in the clouds… or should we say SPACE! There is so much to learn about our galaxy, but we decided to start in the center of it all… the SUN. Did you know that the sun is the only star in our solar system? It’s true! We learned this and so much more about our brightest star from the book The Sun is Kind of a Big Deal by Nick Seluk. The day time is lovely, but we’re anxious to see what we can learn about the night sky.

We’ve got nothing but time on our hands (quite literally). The students are proving themselves to be some real grandfather times! We’ve been playing lots of digital and analog clock BINGO (or TIME-O) as well as matching games between the two clocks. Analog clocks can be tricky, but they’re using their skip counting and decoding skills to the fullest. We are so proud of them and can’t wait to see what our next round of math centers has to offer them! In phonics we introduced -nk chunks which are very similar to our -ng chunks that we learned last week! Everyone is working so hard to remember each of their sounds and use them in their spelling. We’ve just unlocked so many new words with these chunks! We cannot wait to continue to put them to use in our writing as well as reading them in our books.

Enjoy the long weekend!
