Here are next week’s middle school adventures:

  • Please have your student take a look at the menus for Avenue Eats and Wood Fire Pizza Company over the weekend. We are planning a special treat for them next week: lunch at the waterfront.  We will order ahead, and just like our Starbucks Days, we will have the 6th grade go on Tuesday (9/10), the 7th Grade on Wednesday (9/11), and the 8th Grade on

Thursday (9/12).  Please send your child with enough money for their purchase on their designated day.

  • On Monday, we will walk the entire middle school to the Waterfront to see the USS LST-325 (the last fully operational WWII landing ship tank). We are excited for our students to tour the ship before it takes off for its next location.
  • We have sent home the Meat Raffle tickets for our Boots for Buses event with your child.  They are in their agendas in the front pocket, along with a flyer for the event.

6th Grade Happenings:

This class amazes me, as they embraced our new campus with gusto this week. They jumped right into our new environment, and we had a blast yesterday in the gym at Northern. Some of the highlights were basketball, pickleball, and hitting the actual gym. As for academics, I am very impressed with the work ethic of this class. They prepare for quizzes, and hand in their homework each day. They truly want to be successful!

English w/ Mrs. McFadden –

  • Upcoming Tests/Quizzes- none
  • We began reading “Walk Two Moons”. Students will have reading assignments daily, and they may or may not finish them during school.
  • New daily dose words were introduced and available on Google Classroom.
  • The kids loved our new way to practice materials… Gimkit! They ask to play one every day now!

Math w/ Mrs. McFadden

  • Upcoming Tests/Quizzes – Chapter two progress check will likely be Friday
  • Super impressed with the way the kids dove into pre-algebra. We will take a break from “x” this week though. The first part of Chapter 2 focuses on multiplying with decimals, with more estimation practice. The following week we will be back with algebraic expressions using multiplication.

Social Studies w/ Mr. Jividen

  • Upcoming Tests/Quizzes – No test or quiz scheduled
  • Students spent time sharing their current events.
  • We also discussed the upcoming presidential debate at length.
  • Students watched footage from the first televised debate from 1960(only one student asked how old I was in 1960.)

Science w/ Mrs. Farris –

  • Upcoming Tests/Quizzes – no test or quiz scheduled
  • Variables flew through our class this week as we used paper airplanes to discover what variables are and their importance in an experiment.
  • Mini lab stations were used for small groups to practice identifying independent variables, dependent variables, and constants. Then, each group completed their experiment & will share their findings next week.
  • Check out your child’s science journals to see how we are documenting our learning!
