This week we took a field trip to see the behind the scenes process of Wheeling Symphony’s rehearsal! This was an interactive experience for the students as they were introudced to many different members of the symphony who discussed their specific roles and answered questions.
In ELA we:
- Continued reading the “Wild Robot” and strengthening our comprehension skills.
- Learned new words through the “Vocabulary Detective” portion of our Wild Robot packet.
- Dissected similes to understand what was being compared.
- Continued to work on memoirs and learned how to show and not tell our character’s emotions!
- Worked on creating “Book in a Bag” projects to showcase our favorite books of this month!
In Math:
- We moved into adding large numbers up to the millions. The students are doing well with this skill!
- We started a “Mystery Number” clue-a-day. Each day, the students make a guess at a mystery number using daily clues. They don’t let us forget that they need the day’s clue.
- Next week, we’ll continue adding large numbers and move into subtracting large numbers.
In Brainology we:
- Discussed the difference between Feedback and Criticism.
In Government we:
- Continued to prepare for our upcming debate by further research of our arguments.
- Prepared and discussed for our “Lunch Food Election!”

October 4 – 11:30 am Early Dismissal (No aftercare provided)
October 7 – No school, Fall long weekend
October 8 – 10:00 School starts with regular before care 7:30 am before care ends at 9:00. Regular drop off begins at 9:00. Classrooms will open at 9:20. Instruction will begin at 10 am.
