Once in the gallery, you will be able to navigate to your child’s grade and individual folder. Once inside their folder, please select ONE favorite image by hovering over the image and selecting the star. This will mark this image as your favorite. Please refrain from selecting multiple favorite images as only one will be printed with your package. You have until Monday, October 7th at 12:00 pm to select your favorite image.  If you choose not to select an image, I will select the most natural pose for you.

Please note that these photos are only rough edited. Dirty faces and shirts will be fixed (within reason) once you select an image. Thanks!

Hello SK Families,

What a “grand day” we had for Special Person Day! It was such a joy to spend quality time together, sharing memories, and truly getting to know each family better. Watching the kiddos beam with excitement as their special person entered the classroom was the highlight of the day!

We enjoyed reading A Grand Day by Jean Reidy and Samantha Cotrill, a beautiful story about the bond between a child and their family member and the joy they experience when spending time together. After the story, each child created a unique fall leaf out of clay and shiny loose parts, a special project to commemorate the visit. These leaves will be proudly displayed in our classroom, a reminder of the wonderful day their special person came to share in their school life. What a perfect way to cherish the memories!

Also this week, we read The Listening Walk by Paul Showers. In this delightful story, a little girl and her father take a quiet walk together, focusing on the many sounds around them. As they walk, she discovers an extraordinary world of sounds in her everyday environment.

Inspired by the story, we embarked on our own listening walk! With a piece of paper, a clipboard, and a pencil, the children quietly explored the campus, tuning into the sounds around them. It was amazing to see them so engaged, noticing everything from the rustling of leaves, and other children playing, to the sound of the water stream by the creek. It opened up a whole new way of experiencing our surroundings!

In our math groups this week, some groups worked on creating and extending patterns, using different colors and shapes to make their sequences. Meanwhile, others focused on number naming and quantity, practicing their ability to recognize numbers and match them to the correct amount of objects. We also introduced subitizing, where the children practiced instantly recognizing small quantities without needing to count.

In our phonics and literacy groups this week, the children worked hard on their handwriting, practicing proper letter formation with focus and care. We also introduced a few more letters and their corresponding sounds, adding to the growing list of what they have under their belt!

Have a wonderful long weekend!
