Hello SK Families,
What a busy and exciting week we had in SK! With the crisp, cool mornings of autumn settling in, the children were buzzing with energy as we dove into some fun, “fall-like” explorations. Their creativity truly took flight as they began building a “spooky house” out of recyclable materials. Our classroom was transformed into a whirlwind of construction and imagination as they worked together to bring their spooky vision to life.
The spooky theme kept going, and we found ourselves in the midst of a potion-making frenzy! The children gathered ingredients, mixed, stirred, and giggled as they created all sorts of magical concoctions. Still, on the science front, the childrenโs curiosity soared! They were particularly fascinated by a new challenge: getting frozen leaves apart using vinegar and baking soda. They were thrilled to observe how these substances reacted with the frozen leaves and loved brainstorming ways to solve this “sciencey” problem. The science experiments continued as they explored the joy of painting pumpkins. The children shared brushes, colors, and creative ideas, turning their pumpkins into unique works of art. Afterward, they eagerly jumped in to help one another wash the pumpkins, making sure they were squeaky clean and ready for the next group!
In phonics, the children’s alphabet knowledge continues to grow beautifully. They were introduced to new letters and their sounds, and it’s exciting to see how quickly they’re picking them up. As we work on identifying letters and blending sounds, the children are beginning to build a strong foundation for understanding sentence structure. Also learning how to write each letter appropriately.ย
In math this week, the kiddos had so much fun using natural materials to fill their ten frames, following a number recipe to make number soup, and were introduced to โtapieโ the tape measure! They were excited as they began “quizzing” each otherโone child would write a number, and another would quickly jump in to identify and match each number.
We are thrilled to share our upcoming deep dive with you all! During centers, the children’s creativity took off as a group of them came together to create their very own โMCDONADSโ โ a fast food restaurant! The excitement was contagious as more children joined in. They cooked up imaginative meals and even set up a little drive-thru!ย So, we thought, why not take this interest and turn our classroom into their very own classroom restaurant? Stay tunedโฆ thereโs so much more fun to come as we dive deeper into this exciting new project! To be continuedโฆ
Have a wonderful weekend
