English w/ Mrs. McFadden
- Upcoming Tests/Quizzes– none
- This week we continued to practice compound, complex and simple sentences, along with the different types of phrases.
- Students are wrapping up their independent reading books, and we will begin book one in the Percy Jackson series- “The Lightning Thief” sometime next week. If students have not brought in their copy, they should do so.
- Students will complete a short culminating project to showcase their independent reading books this week.
Math w/ Mrs. McFadden
- Upcoming Tests/Quizzes– none
- We have been working on long division, and began adding decimals to the process. Long division has many steps, and lots of room for errors. It is a good idea for the kids to install a multiplication/ division app on their devices to keep reviewing those facts. An error in the facts throws the whole problem off. The kids have begun to really check their work, and it paid off tremendously with their last progress check!
- We also discovered a fun game to review multiplication facts. It is called the product game, and it is an excellent logic, and strategy game that forces you to use your mulitplication facts to win.
Science w/ Mrs. Farris
- Upcoming Tests/Quizzes – none
Students became chromatologists as we extracted the hidden color pigments from the green leavesWe hypothesized what colors certain trees may change and compared deciduous trees to coniferous. The class was exposed to different growing methods and then challenged to think of a way to grow food heading into fall and winter.
Art w/ Mr. K
- We continued to work and finish up the art project based on pumpkins/creating a unique card with a fall/spooky theme.
Music w/Mrs. Chelsey –
- We continued learning our second song “First Footprints”, which is offering some lessons in feeling time signature changes and key changes. We started the glockenspiel part as well! Students are really settling into our vocal warm up routine and doing really well at it!
- This weeks music journal prompt was “ If you could write a song, what would it be about?”
-Movie making- That’s a wrap! Now that filming has been completed, the kids have moved into the editing stage of the process
