Important Dates at Middle School:
- 6th Grade Exhibition: Face Your Face @ Ohio County Public Library: October 28th (5 pm – 6 pm)
- Monster Mash Middle School Dance – Nov. 1 (7 – 10 pm) Wear your costume!
- 7th/8th Grade Exhibition: November 4th 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm @ House of the Carpenter
- On Tuesday, 10/29/24, Officer John and the middle school staff/students will discuss and practice fire and evacuation routes. We will walk together to a nearby, safe location to give ourselves confidence and direction should a situation arise in which both are necessary. Please rest assured that the children are not leaving the park. We’re confident the drills will be successful, but we wanted to inform you ahead of time.
6th Grade Happenings:
Deep Dive w/ Mr. K & Mr. Rouse
- Upcoming Tests/Quizzes- None
- This week, the students have been finishing up their exhibition pieces. They are excited to show off their hard work on Monday night.
- Drop off at West Virginia Northern Campus on Monday, October 28th
- Students will get pizza and stay at the Library after school on Monday until the exhibition.
English w/ Mrs. McFadden
- Upcoming Tests/Quizzes– Grammar quiz – 4 types of sentences, independent vs. dependent clauses – Wednesday. There is a quizziz on Google classroom to practice.
- We did not end up starting the Percy Jackson book this week. We needed a few more days to finish our independent reading books and projects.
- We practiced identifying types of sentences and clauses. Understanding these concepts will help make us better writers!
Math w/ Mrs. McFadden
- Upcoming Tests/Quizzes– Chapter 3 quiz will be one day towards the end of the week.
- This week was all about division with decimals. While it was a tricky concept at first (we had to learn how to slide the decimal over and bring it up, and when to add zeros in the dividend and quotient) by the end of the week, everyone seemed to have a solid understanding of the concept!
- Next week we will bring back the exes with division in algebra.
Science w/ Mrs. Farris
- Upcoming Tests/Quizzes – None scheduled
- Seed packets were distributed to each student to explore the proposed plants and assess whether they’d be suitable for us to grow.
- The class concluded that a variety of lettuce greens and herbs would be ideal, as they require little space and thrive in indoor temperatures.
- We’ve started assembling our grow tower and plan to finish it and start seeds next week.
Music w/Mrs. Chelsey –
- This week we finished learning our second choir piece and added in the glockenspiel part! Sounds of the holidays are filling the air!!
