Thank you so much for your donations during 29 Hours. We can’t wait to dance!
Time is flying in second grade! This week, we began a whole-group literature circle with Cam Jansen and the Green School Mystery. This is the class’s first experience with a literature circle, and once we complete it together, students will have a chance to work in groups to continue this activity with peers.
In math, we tackled the challenging concept of addition with regrouping! The students have been practicing all week. Ask your child to show you how they solve addition problems using regrouping. Next week, we’ll move on to subtraction with regrouping.
For our deep dive, we studied the sun and the moon. We went outside to trace our shadows and revisited them later to see how they had moved, which led to a fascinating discussion about Earth’s tilt and rotation. We also explored how the moon revolves around the Earth and what makes it “glow” to close out the week.
In Kids in the Kitchen, we made spaghetti squash, and the students LOVED it!
Have a great weekend!
