This week was filled with so much excitement as we welcomed our classroom Elf. Our class voted and named her “Peppermint Jingleberry.” She spent the week keeping our students on their toes as she ventured from the Gold side, through the middle room, and on the Blue side leaving traces of fun holiday cheer behind. Students recorded her adventures daily in their Elf Journals!

In phonics, we learned how suffix -s can make a word more than one or make it an action. Students acted out the verbs in a game of charades. They also played a 4-in-a-row game that they asked to have for HW this upcoming week. Be prepared to face your child to practice those reading skills. We unlocked the secret of -ar! “A” is such a good friend that he gives his super hero powers to “r” so he can say his name! Students enjoyed searching for words with “ar” to add to their secret notebooks during our book box time.

We practiced our math fluency with our Monster Math Subtraction challenge and students are well on their way to mastery. We reviewed many skills and concept that have been covered so far this year with fun holiday games.

We spent the week preparing for our Winter Family Night! It was amazing to watch our classroom transform into a magical winter forest filled with lights, snowflakes and forest animals.

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
