What magma-nificent memories we’ve been making together this week. Our little volcanologists have been hard at work learning all there is to know about volcanoes. Did you know there are some volcanoes that erupt DAILY and there are some that only erupt every 10,000 YEARS!! We were so shocked and excited to learn all the different facts about real volcanoes that we decided to create our own. Putting our “cooking” skills back to the test and whipped up some salt dough that would soon turn into the “cone” (or outer layer) of our volcanoes! It was so exciting to watch the kiddos reconnect with their inner baker as they kneaded, added salt, flour, and water to make the perfect texture of dough. Then they formed their dough around mini water bottles, painted them volcanic colors, and transformed ordinary items into volcanoes that were nearly ready to erupt! Finally, Friday we used 3 simple ingredients to make a real eruption!! Ask your kiddos what special ingredients we used AND if you’re up for the thrill of science, you can make their volcanoes erupt again and again as we sent them home with them!!!πŸŒ‹

Since science seems to be the topic of interest, we also decided to dip and dabble into the world of magnets. We learned that magnets can be found in a multitude of items in our homes and all around the world we live in. We used magnets and paperclips to paint, pull through and out of water, and much more! We plan to continue our magnetic studies next week!!🧲

In phonics we’ve been introduced to a couple of cool guys that get together and shake up the sounds we already know and love… THE “h” brothers! As we know, s says /s/ and h says /h/, but when they come together something crazy happens… Ask your kiddo what “sh” says and you’ve gotta promise you won’t get mad at them when they tell you to “shhhhh”! We’ll continue learning about the other brothers that change their sounds when ‘h’ is near next week. In math you may want to get those 3D glasses out of the trash and bring ’em to class as we learn all about the shapes that are 3 dimensional! While these shapes can be tricky to remember by name, this crew is doing a great job with identifying and classifying them. In our activity each kiddo was given a shape and challenged to transform it into something they see in real life. We got cones that turned into ice cream cones, cubes that turned into houses, and even a cylinder that turned into a can of Dr. Pepper! These kiddos will never fail to amaze us with their ability to gain and retain so much knowledge in their big-little brains!🧠

It feels so good to be (somewhat) back to normal after all of our vacations, cancellations, and delays. Next week the snowfish is calling for more cold weather. Make sure to come bundled up!!

Have a great weekend!πŸ’™πŸ’›
