What a wonderful, full week of adventures we had! Although it was sudden, and somewhat unexpected, our little scientists turned into full blown explorers. It started with conversations like:
“In the United States thereβs different countries. You can fish and see all the different kinds of seas”- Nora to “We have the White House”- Ellie and even “My house is a White House!”- Savannah. So we decided to look into this nation that we so proudly call home. Of course we had to begin by listening to The Fifty Nifty United States song! Once we realized there are 50 states to explore, we decided to start small and look at the two that we call home. The heart of it all, Ohio and the wild and wonderful, West Virginia! The students were mind blown (and so were we) learning all about the symbols that make our states unique and similar. The students beautifully drew cardinals, pawpaws, buckeye trees and much more. Seeing their illustrations had us giggling and in awe all at once. This group never fails to amaze us with their artistic and abstract abilities. We canβt wait to what they can do and expand our travels next week!
In phonics some of us are still tackling the h brothers and using them at the beginning and end of plenty new words. While some of us are taking on the challenge of chunks and blends! No matter what phonics group these kiddos are in, they are constantly showing up and showing out!! Their efforts and enthusiasm for learning is growing with each passing day and we couldnβt be more proud. We are constantly having them kiss those beautiful, big brains of theirs! In math along with more symmetry fun, we discussed the meaning and importance of sorting. The students loved sorting all things by color, shape, size, and type! Our classroom also loved the little βwinter clean outβ as well as they continued to sort all of our classroom toys and tools even after math class!
Our week couldnβt have ended any better than it did. Our buddy, Felix, invited his dad Mr. Felix to come in and share some mind blowing magic with us!!! We had a mini magic show right in our classroom!!!! We couldnβt believe some of things that happened right before our eyes. These tricks went from turning one ball into two then three to finding a unique card no matter how hard we tried to hide it in the deck. Even Miss Gina and I were in complete awe with every trick he performed. We couldnβt be more grateful for this incredible experience.
We canβt wait for more adventures and to make more memories together next week.
Have a great weekend!
