What a week! The seventh grade students began filming for their Plant the Moon Challenge (photo below), two of our students (Go Tesla and Trennan!) represented Wheeling Country Day at the county level and spelled words that their advisor definitely could not, and Tesla advanced to the state competition! Congratulations to both of you. We are excited to cheer Tesla on as she advances!

English w/ Mr. Rouse – 

  • Upcoming Tests/Quizzes- Aimsweb completed!
  • 7th grade students completed Aimsweb over two days this week.
  • We continued Howl’s Moving Castle.

Deep Dive w/ Mrs. McFadden & Mr. K –

  • Upcoming Tests/Quizzes – No Tests or Quiz Scheduled
  • We were only able to meet once this week, but we are excited to see the final product come together
  • We look forward to hosting you for our exhibition next week

Math w/ Mrs. Boldrick –

  • Upcoming Tests/Quizzes – none scheduled 
  • We reviewed the distributive property and combining like terms. 
  • We are working on solving one-step equations using all operations – addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. These problems include positive and negative numbers.
  • We’ll continue doing one-step equations, but will use fractions and decimals in these equations.
  • Any missed assignments can be found on Google Classroom. Students are responsible for making up any assignments they missed due to absences.
  • All math Aimsweb assessments are finished. Please reach out to me if you have any questions about their scores.

Math w/ Mrs. Howells –

  • Upcoming Tests/Quizzes – none scheduled
  • Everyone has now completed the winter benchmark assessment on Aimsweb. 
  • This week the students began working with decimals.
  • We covered these concepts:
    • Comparing and Ordering Decimals
    • Estimating Decimal Sums and Differences
    • Adding and Subtracting Decimals
  • The above listed concepts require several prerequisite skills so students revisited positive and negative numbers on the numberline, rounding to a certain place, and adding and subtracting integers.

Social Studies w/ Mr. Jividen –

  • Upcoming Tests/Quizzes – No Tests or Quizzes Scheduled
  • 7th Grade students spent the week exploring black history month.
  • Each student was assigned a historical figure and an event to create a black history month calendar that we can share with other classrooms
