This week in second grade, we focused on the ir and ur sounds, practicing spelling and reading words. Our literature circle groups are going strong, and we’re so proud of how well everyone is working together! The kids are making great progress on their character analysis writing—each student has chosen a Humphrey character and is moving right along.
In math, we wrapped up rounding to the nearest ten and hundred. We then moved on to word problems. The kids practiced breaking them apart to see what’s really being asked before solving. We took another week off from Kids in the Kitchen and instead taught the kids how to crochet for our Celebrate project!
For our deep dive, we started creating our own city, incorporating all the things we’d love to see in our community along with some essential buildings.
