Well, SK families, we made it! What a fantastic week we’ve had in SK! We started off strong by working on our special artwork piece for Celebrate (which we hope to see you all at on March 29th). With this year’s theme being Alice in Wonderland, our class is creating a one-of-a-kind timely piece! The students have been learning how to make bubble numbers for this piece, and their creativity is shining through. When we return from Spring Break, we’ll put the finishing touches on our masterpiece, just in time for the big event!! Be sure not to be late to Celebrate so you can have a hand in all the fun!
In phonics, we’ve been tackling the -nk and -ng word chunks, spelling words like sink, pink, ring, and king with ease! Some of our students even took it a step further, working on L blends with words like bling and sling. It’s amazing to see how each child is growing as a reader and writer in their own way and we are so proud of their progress!
Math has been all about measurement this week! The students had an absolute blast weighing themselves on a real body scale and using measuring tape to measure one another. They were in awe as they compared heights and weights among one another. “I can’t believe we’re the same height!” and “I’m the heaviest in the class!!” were just a few of the exclamations that filled the air during this experience. They also explored with balance scales to discover how different objects compare in weight. It’s been a hands-on and engaging way to learn about size, weight, and balance. Time flies when you’re having fun so when we return, we’ll be right on schedule for even more fun learning with telling time!
We can hardly believe we are more than half way through the school year. It’s SPRING BREAK!!! We’ve heard exciting plans about Florida, Disney, and family visits. Whatever your plans may be, we are wishing you all a wonderful and healthy break. With all the illnesses going around, don’t forget to rest, recharge, and take care of yourselves. We can’t wait to see everyone soon and hear of all your adventures💙💛
