Hello, second-grade families!

We’ve had another exciting week in our classroom, full of learning and creativity. Here’s a peek at what we’ve been up to!

📚 Phonics Fun – This week, we learned that *kn* makes the /n/ sound, like in knee and knock! We practiced reading and spelling words with this tricky pattern and had fun spotting *kn* words in books.

📝 Facts vs. Opinions & Persuasive Writing – We talked about the difference between facts and opinions. A fact is something true, like “Dogs have four legs,” while an opinion is what someone thinks or feels, like “Dogs are the best pets!” We’re using this knowledge to write persuasive essays—so don’t be surprised if your child tries to convince you of something with a well-reasoned argument!

📏 Measuring & Fractions – In math, we measured objects to the nearest quarter inch, which gave us a little taste of fractions. It was fun to see how precise we could be!

🏡 Communities & Gardens – We wrapped up our study of communities and started learning about gardens! We talked about why gardens are important and what plants need to grow. We can’t wait to dig deeper into this topic (literally)!

🎨 Busy Bees for Celebrate – Speaking of gardens (*hint, hint*) our classroom has been buzzing with projects for Celebrate! The kids have been working hard on creative pieces to share. We can’t wait for you to see what we’ve been making!

Thanks for your continued support! We’re looking forward to another great week ahead.

Happy weekend!
