A Look at Our Week:
We kicked off our week with the beautiful story Planting a Rainbow, which inspired our March self-portraits. After hearing the story, the children were tasked with envisioning themselves as colorful flowers in a vibrant garden. Using oil pastels and Sharpies, each child carefully designed their flower-self portrait, adding bright colors and creative details. The final touch was gluing real flowers and ferns onto their artwork, giving it a beautiful, natural element. We also added a photograph of each child to their masterpiece, capturing their unique smiles alongside their creations. These portraits are now on display in our classroom, and they truly bring so much warmth and joy to the space.
The remainder of our week was focused on Celebrate. Your children have been an integral part of the preparation for the upcoming Celebrate event! Over the past few weeks, the children have been working together to finish our beautiful mirror mosaic that will be auctioned off at Celebrate. This masterpiece is a true reflection of their creativity, with pieces of each child’s artwork carefully embedded into the design. It’s a stunning work of art that showcases not only their individual contributions but also their ability to collaborate as a team. We’re so proud of how it turned out, and we can’t wait to see it displayed at Celebrate! If you can’t make it to the event in person, don’t worry—you can still be a part of the excitement by bidding on the mosaic via proxy. This unique piece of art would make such a meaningful memento of your child’s first school experience!
Speaking of Celebrate, who says the grown-ups get to have all the fun? This week, the children listened to stories of Alice in Wonderland and had a blast designing and decorating their very own unique top hats! Each one was a creative masterpiece, full of personality and flair. To top off our fun week, we wrapped things up with a delightful “Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.” The children enjoyed a fancy, whimsical tea party with beautiful place settings, complete with tea cups and floral centerpieces. It was such a joy to see their faces light up as they sipped “tea” and shared the fun with their friends.
Enjoy your weekend and we are looking forward to spending the evening with those of you coming to Celebrate!
