This week we dodged raindrops and still managed to find times when we could go outside to do our reading, and to make a few trips to the playground.
English w/ Mrs. McFadden –
- Upcoming Tests/Quizzes- none scheduled
- We continued to read Miracles on Maple Hill.
- We began a mini unit on poetry. Students have written 2 poems thus far, and it has been fund learning more about them through their writing!
Math w/ Mrs. McFadden –
- Upcoming Tests/Quizzes-Chapter 7 checkpoint Wednesday or Thursday
- This week we used the GCF and LCM to start our review of fractions. We reduced fractions to their simplest form, converted fractions to decimals and vice versa, and ordered decimals and fractions on a number line.
- Part of the class got to play fractions jeopardy, and the other half will play next week.
Science w/ Mrs. Farris –
- Upcoming Tests/Quizzes – Thursday April 10th, Phenology Quiz
- Our seasons and the plants and animals around us are changing!
- This week, we discovered how living things adapt to seasonal changes through structural and behavioral adaptations. We then explored mimicry and camouflage, testing our observation skills by trying to spot hidden creatures in photos.
- Students enjoyed creating “What Am I Cards?” and sharing their clues for classmates to guess.
Music w/Mrs. Chelsey –
- This week we recorded our “Here Comes the Sun” video, and the kids did a great job!! I will be uploading our two “Spring Songs” this weekend to youtube, and will have the link to send out early next week!
- We learned the “cup song” rhythm, which was a lot of fun!! Ask your child to teach it to you!!
- We listened to, and watched, a radio drama in preparation for creating our own. The students will break into groups and write their own skits, complete with sound props. I’m looking forward to this project!
- Our journal prompt this week was “How does music help your creativity?”
