Hoppy Spring!

  • Miss Bekah will be leaving us soon to start the next chapter of her life and pursue her own classroom! As a parting gift, we are asking each kiddo to bring in a book with a special note on the inside cover so she can start her own class library! This doesn’t have to be a brand new book; a loved book from their own personal bookshelf can be just as special!

The kiddos had such a fun and eventful week here in second grade! From learning about pollinators through a hands-on activity brought to us from WVU Extension, the fire safety house brought to us by Wheeling Fire House, and the annual WCDS Egg Hunt.

In Phonics, the kiddos were learning all about how aw makes the short o sound, and that it is used at the end of a word. Some aw words include draw, jigsaw, and straw. Then in Math, we began reviewing previous skills that the kiddos learned earlier in the year. Ask your kiddos any questions about number patterns!

In our recent Deep Dive, students explored the fascinating world of pollinators! They learned how essential creatures like bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds are to our food systems and the environment. To share their new knowledge and inspire others to protect these vital helpers, students created colorful, informative signs to display around campus. Their goal? To educate the community on the importance of pollinators—and to remind everyone why we should never harm bees!

Have a great long weekend! Happy Easter!
