Dear Preschool families,
We hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing long weekend. It seemed like the Easter Bunny hopped to a lot of preschool houses.
We came back on Tuesday to celebrate Earth Day with songs and a story titled Miss Fox’s Class Goes Green. It helped us understand that “going green” is about keeping our Earth healthy. So we listened carefully on how we could be apart of going green and this is what we learned; When leaving a room in your house make sure to turn off the lights, in our classroom during an art projects use both sides of a piece of paper, when walking around campus to pick up paper or wrappers and finding the nearest garbage can. Let’s Go Green Preschool!!
Under the warm sunny skies we headed outside to emulate this weeks new artist’s technique of Jackson Pollock. He not only used paint brushes as a medium but also used sticks, trowels, and knives to create abstract and drip paintings. We took on the challenge using watercolors to paint dresses and add touches of sparkle and shiny gems. You can look forward to seeing these one of a kind dresses, Jackson Pollock inspired, at the Happy Dress Princess museum.
We completed our week with adding one more touch to our one of kind dresses. You can’t have princess dresses without a crown. So we got to work designing our crowns after drawing them first. We used colored pencils, pastel crayons, and water colors to complete the look. The children enjoyed the story Parker Looks Up. This little girl looks up at all the different paintings, artists, and portraits with such an inspiration.
This week was Miss Valerie and Miss Payton’s last week with us in Preschool. We enjoyed having them with us in the classroom. They had fun getting to know the children and for being a part of their learning experiences. We wish them the best of luck while they continue on their education journey.
PS Have a wonderful weekend,
Miss Airry, Miss Meredith, and Miss Arden
