We’ve had a fantastic week in second grade, full of learning, discovery, and hands-on fun! Here’s a peek at what we’ve been up to:
This week in phonics, we explored how the letter s can make the /z/ sound when it’s found between two vowels — like in the words roses, music, and easy! Students did a great job spotting these tricky sounds in their reading and using them in their writing.
We began reviewing number patterns, such as skip counting and identifying what comes next in a sequence. We also took a fresh look at how to read analog clocks, focusing on telling time to the hour, half-hour, and to the minute. We’ll continue practicing as we become time-telling pros!
This week’s Deep Dive took us into the garden, where students got their hands dirty learning about compost! We pulled lots of weeds and discovered how food scraps and yard waste can turn into rich soil to help plants grow. It was a great opportunity to see science in action and learn how we can take care of our Earth.
Have a great weekend!
