English w/ Mr. Rouse –
- Upcoming Tests/Quizzes-none.
- Students continued their reading, discussion, and questions for A Wrinkle in Time.
- Vocabulary this week was pulled straight from the book.
- We started a nature piece of writing in which they started developing a poem or memoir style piece using a picture we took out in nature.
Deep Dive w/ Mr. Rouse and Mr. Jividen-
- This week we hit the town in style in our new van!
- We finished filming at Wheeling and Oglebay Parks
- Students worked to complete the script
Math w/ Mrs. Boldrick –
- Upcoming Tests/Quizzes – Functions Quiz, Tuesday, April 29
- The students continue to work with Conrad Borchers from Carnegie Mellon. They are getting used to the format and are catching on to the material.
- Concurrent with Conrad’s lessons, the students are learning about the slope of a line, and how the line shows a rate of change.
- The students will learn more about linear equations and the slope of a line with an online graphing program called Desmos. We’ll be doing a final project with this program.
Social Studies w/ Mr. Jividen –
- Upcoming Tests/Quizzes – No Tests or Quizzes Scheduled
- In class this week, we explored the way the Colombian exchange affected individual groups, including European settlers and native people
- We imagined a world without the Colombian Exchange through a cause and effect discussion
Science w/ Mrs. Farris –
- Upcoming Tests/Quizzes – Atomic structure and periodic table test Thursday, May 1st
- Students built on their understanding of atoms as they began exploring the periodic table and learning how to use it effectively.
- We focused on the first 20 elements, examining each one’s atomic number and atomic mass.
- Using this information, students practiced determining the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons in each element.
Music w/ Mrs. Chelsey –
Our music journal prompt this week was “Have you ever created your own music? If not, what would you create?”
This week students worked on finishing their radio drama scripts and began rehearsing! We will rehearse all next week and begin our presentations the following – I’m very excited to hear these!!!
We began our “Everybody Dance Now” field day drumming routine and it’s going to be a lot of fun (and loud haha)
