📚 Phonics, Reading, and Writing
We discovered that re- means “again,” and we practiced by turning everyday words into new ones—like turning play into replay and do into redo. It was interesting to see how one little prefix could change the meaning of so many words! Students also began developing their skill at writing an opinion piece; Stay tuned for more!

🔢 Math
Reading a thermometer is like being a weather detective! Thermometers tell us how hot or cold it is using numbers called degrees. Some thermometers use Fahrenheit (°F), and some use Celsius (°C)—and some even show both! We turned up the heat by playing games like “I Have, Who Has…”, Kahoot, and we colored thermometer models. So cool….or, hot!?

🪨 Science
Third graders have a blast learning about rocks, minerals, and erosion! They get to explore how rocks are formed, discover shiny minerals hidden inside, and see how wind and water can slowly break down big rocks into tiny pieces. Students even simulated how a river breaks rocks down into sand by the time it reaches the ocean.

🎉 Special Events of the Week
We had some special Earth Day lessons with guest students from West Liberty. Our kiddos started seeds in a mini-green house, planted a seed in an ice cream cone, and learned about water filtration. Wow!
