This week, the girls enjoyed several trips to the playground, while the boys played soccer at lunch. The girls were so inclusive, inviting curious little ones to play tag and duck, duck, and goose. Our playground trips also supported Mrs. Farris’ work on ticks, as three of us came back from the playground with stowaways.

English w/ Mrs. McFadden –

  • Upcoming Tests/Quizzes – Comma Quiz Tuesday
  • This week, we began reading Ban This Book by Alan Gratz. This book lends itself to discussions on what it means for a book to get banned, why people would want to ban books, and what being banned does for a book’s popularity and sales.
  • We practiced correct comma usage each day this week.

Math w/ Mrs. McFadden

  • Upcoming Tests/Quizzes- Math Quiz chapter 8 – Friday, May 9th
  • This week, we reviewed multiplying and dividing fractions. This seemed intimidating initially, but with each problem, you could see the kids become more comfortable and confident with their abilities and knowledge!
  • Students played Battleship to practice these skills.

Science w/ Mrs. Farris –

This week, student groups continued finalizing their educational posters and began reaching out to Wheeling Park for approval to display them and help raise community awareness about ticks.

Upcoming Tests/Quizzes – No test or quiz scheduled

In the lab, students were introduced to stereo microscopes and practiced using them to observe macroorganisms up close.

A special thank you to Ella for bringing ticks for observation and identification! We’ll continue building our microscope skills next week.
