As we celebrate Mother’s Day this weekend, we want to take a moment to thank each of you for the love, encouragement, and unwavering support you pour into your children every day. Your early morning pep talks, late-night homework help, and gentle reminders to show kindness do not go unnoticed—they shape our classroom into a place where every student feels safe, valued, and ready to learn. We celebrate ALL of the MOMs and give a huge thank you for all that you do!
Please check your child’s backpack for a little Mother’s Day gift made especially for you.
Enjoy the beautiful weekend!
Stella and Grace
p.s. Congratulations to Mrs. White for receiving her Master’s in Developmental Psychology from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA! She spent the last few days in Lynchburg to receive her diploma and celebrate her accomplishments with her husband and family. The kids were so excited for her!
In ELA:
- Students have finished their novel study of Holes! This novel always captures their attention due to the entertaining nature of the story, but also its complex literary elements. We are proud of how the students continued to dive deep to
- Poetry for Attack Theatre has been completed! We are so excited to share these special poems with you during the final presentation on May 15th.
In Math:
- The students are learning about fractions, what they mean, and what the numerator and the denominator represent.
- We finished up identifying the types of angles and learned how to use a protractor. The kids wrote their names using only straight lines, then they had to identify the type of angle the lines made.
- Math is spilling into art as they work with geometric shapes in an art project for Attack Theatre.
Reminders:
- For Attack Theatre – Students should wear khaki bottoms (shorts, pants, or skirts) and a BRIGHT colored shirt. Any bright color will work, and does not need to be a school uniform shirt (think neon colors, but please do not feel the need to purchase one).
- After our Attack Theatre presentation – roughly finishing at 2:30, please take the time to read and look at the students’ poems and artwork. They are working hard at completing meaningful pieces. Also, you may take your child with you after the program. PLEASE LET US KNOW that they are leaving early with you.
- If students want to leave creek shoes, a change of clothes, and a towel at school, we may be able to go into the creek when time permits. Please LABEL everything with your child’s name.

Using a Protractor – Measuring Angles
An Afternoon in the Creek
We almost didn’t make it into the creek on Wednesday. We had Officer John assess the depth and speed of the creek on Wednesday morning, and he advised us to wait out the day and see if it was lower and slower in the afternoon. He made the “all safe” call, and it was all cheers for time in the creek during P.E. in the afternoon. Thanks, Officer John, for keeping us safe!
