- Student Volunteer Opportunity: Foxfire Film Festival
The inaugural Foxfire Film Festival will take place in Wheeling from September 11–14, 2025, and organizers are inviting high school students to sign up as volunteers. This is a unique chance for students to gain hands-on experience at a major cultural event, connect with filmmakers and industry professionals, and contribute to the community.
Volunteer roles may include guest check-in, ushering, assisting with panels and workshops, and general event support. All volunteers will be given Foxfire Volunteer t-shirts to wear during their shifts. Students can sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C054BA9AC2DA3F5CF8-58200003-foxfire
It was great getting to see everyone and hear about their summers! It’s easy to forget how quickly these kids grow up. With the full days and week, this week was all about getting a feel for the schedule and classes. Fortunately, things went smoothly, the weather was great, and there was just an overall buzz about the branch campus. We are happy to be back! Don’t forget about the long weekend.

Deep Dive w/ Mrs. McFadden & Mrs. Wallace –
- Upcoming Tests/Quizzes- none
We began our deep dive “Around the World”. We gave the students a blank map of the world to label. Some have extensive knowledge of world geography, while others have a more limited background. Our goal is for students to learn 25-50 more countries than they know right now. Who knows? We may have some who learn to map the whole world! The students researched world landmarks and made slide shows to present to the class. We will be breaking the 12 weeks into 2 week increments in each continent, minus Antarctica. This week’s focus was on Central America. If anyone would like to come in and be our expert, we would love to have you! Cooking, talking about your country of origin, or even teaching the kids a game would be great!
