A Look at Our Week:

Dear Preschool families,

We hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend. Everybody arrived with big smiles on Tuesday ready to attack a new week. It was a perfect day to play and explore outside as we were all coming back on campus together.

Our self-portraits are in the works. On Tuesday we started recognizing some of our facial features from a picture taken on our first week of school. Now, we will work on identifying our hair, eyes, nose, and mouth. We read a story titled Hair Love which showed a father and daughter finding the perfect hair style for her that would compliment mommy and daddy. It’s hair love! After the story we looked at our own picture and everyone identified their hair and its color. Once they found it they sorted through different color paper, ribbon, and yarn of all different textures to best replicate their own hair.

We also settled into our Mindfulness (SEL) activities that we will be learning as a class throughout the year. Recently, we talked about spatial awareness and that you should always use gentle hands.

What are hands used for? Here are a few answers:

Stone-help you swim.

Adler-open doors.

Khyryn-to grab.

Roman-for climbing.

Somebody’s watching you! The children identified another part of their picture for their self-portrait; their eyes. Using blue, brown, and green crayons they drew their eyes in very creative ways. We read a beautiful story titled Eyes that Kiss in the Corners. A young girl notices that her eyes look different from her friends’, but, she realizes her eyes kiss in the corners and glow like warm tea. She learned she has beautiful eyes like her mother, grandmother, and little sister.

PS Everyone have a wonderful weekend,

Miss Airry, Miss Claire, and Miss Meredith
