- Student Volunteer Opportunity: Foxfire Film Festival
The inaugural Foxfire Film Festival will take place in Wheeling from September 11–14, 2025, and organizers are inviting high school students to sign up as volunteers. This is a unique chance for students to gain hands-on experience at a major cultural event, connect with filmmakers and industry professionals, and contribute to the community. - Volunteer roles may include guest check-in, ushering, assisting with panels and workshops, and general event support. All volunteers will be given Foxfire Volunteer t-shirts to wear during their shifts. Students can sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C054BA9AC2DA3F5CF8-58200003-foxfire

- Upcoming Tests/Quizzes- Aimsweb will be on Tuesday, September 9th next week. Daily Dose Quiz moved to Wednesday.
- This week, we continued to settle into our reading routines. The kids have chosen their free read books, and they are building their stamina for daily reading. I have enjoyed reading their responses, and I love that so many of these kids are still voracious readers!
- We spent more time practicing using context clues and expanding our vocabulary.
- Individual writing conferences took place throughout the week to help students edit their paragraphs of the week.
Math w/ Mrs. McFadden – Aimsweb will be on Thursday, September 11th next week.

- We started each class with a number talk comparing fractions using <, >, or =. It is a great fraction review, and gives the kids a chance to talk through how they solved the problem. They pick up tips and tricks from each other on the way too!
- This week, variables were introduced. Students learned how to turn words into expressions and vice versa. Then they began to evaluate expressions with given variables.
