Parentās Night Out- An evening made just for WCDS parents! A chance to relax, connect, and enjoy time together without the kids!! Plus raise some money for student transportation.
We had another wonderful week in 2nd grade! Each day brought us exciting opportunities to learn, create, and explore together. Here are some highlights from our classroom:
š Phonics: This week we focused on the /oy/ sound in words like boy and toy. The students practiced reading and spelling with this new sound, and theyāre quickly recognizing the differences and tricks for using /oi/ and /oy/ in their writing!
ā Math: We were introduced to fact families, which help us see how addition and subtraction are connected. The students loved making their own āfact family housesā to show the relationships between numbers.
āļø Writing: Our Fall writing pieces are wrapping up and even more beautiful than we imagined! The students are truly beginning to understand the writing process. Theyāve especially enjoyed free writing time, where their creativity really shines!
š Grammar: After mastering nouns and verbs, weāve now added adjectives to our toolbox. The students are learning how descriptive words make their writing stronger and more colorful. Their stories are truly coming alive!
šŖ¶ Deep Dive: Weāve now explored all the types of vertebrates! The students have built such a great foundation of knowledge about animals, and they are excited to share fun facts theyāve learned along the way. We can’t wait to dive deeper into these animals lives next week!
šKids in the Kitchen: With apple season in full swing, this weekās recipe was… applesauce! The students loved seeing how simple ingredients could turn into something they recognize from the store. Even though it looked a little different, they all agreed it was just as, if not more, delicious!
We hope you all enjoy the beautiful Fall weather this weekend!āļø
See ya Monday,
