7th Grade News

English w/ Mr. Rouse – 

  • Upcoming Tests/Quizzes- none.
  • Wrapped up Unit #2 of vocabulary and took our first test. The average was very high!
  • We continued our reading and discussion of The Giver, and we’ve gotten to the point where we are discussing themes of control and diversity.
  • We started a new activity in which I give them essay style questions. This activity is in place to help them transition into a phase where they are drawing meaning from and talking about the texts.

Math w/ Mrs. Bishop

  • Upcoming Tests/Quizzes- No quiz  next week
  • This week we finished up our work with multiplying and dividing integers.
  • The test over multiplying and dividing went really well. The kids feel more comfortable with these operations than they did with adding and subtracting. But that will come with more practice.
  • We ended the week with stations reviewing the 4 operations with integers.
  • Next week we’re headed towards some review of properties with addition and multiplication, and operations containing numbers with exponents.

Math w/ Mrs. Boldrick

  • Upcoming Tests/Quizzes- Test, next Wednesday, 9/24
  • The students worked hard on using rational numbers in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division problems.
  • They were given a chance to practice these skills during “working days” in class.
  • We’ll move on to exponents next week.

Deep Dive w/ Mrs. McFadden & Mrs. Wallace –

  • Upcoming Tests/Quizzes- Students finished their Central American country presentations, and jetted off to South America. We continued to work on our giant map, as some of the artistic students began drawing iconic images on the map.

Science w/ Mrs. McKay – 

  • Upcoming Tests/Quizzes -Science News quiz next Thursday
  • This week students completed a virtual lab on photosynthesis and participated in an outdoor scavenger hunt for biotic and abiotic components in an ecosystem

Music w/Mrs. Chelsey – 

  • Upcoming Tests/Quizzes – 
  • This week we started learning our first holiday piece, “Here Comes the Snow”! We also had a short quiz on some basic music notation. 
  • Our journal entry this week was responding to the piece “4’ 33’’” by John Cage. Ask your child about the piece and all the things ways it can be interpreted and all the things it can mean.

Social Studies w/Mr. Jividen – 

  • Wrapped up the Bill of Rights
  • Study Guide for Upcoming Quiz
  • Quiz Wednesday

Elective –

  • Creation Lab w/ Mrs. Boldrick & Mrs. Ochap – The students continue to work on their 2×4 challenge and their miniature classroom models. As the students complete their miniatures, we will move into their upcycle project.
  • Cooking w/ Mrs. McFadden – Cooking w/ Mrs. McFadden – Apple week was a great success, while students planned their South American recipes for Monday.
