Dear Preschool Families,
It is certainly Fall time on campus! Do you know how we can tell? By the number of times our basket is filled up each day with buckeyes that the children have happily collected, counted, and built with. Occasionally having one, two, or six in their pockets during the school day. As the new Fall season begins we hope you are enjoying all the sights and sounds that accompanies it.
The children participated in a Pumpkin brainstorm session on Tuesday to decide how they would want to decorate a pumpkin for the Vantoberfest Event. During our discussion, the class had many creative and interesting ideas. Some ideas were to paint it, decorate with buttons, dinosaurs, make it orange, decorate with leaves, put flowers on it, draw eyes and mouth, make it look like Santa, make it look like an egg, put a circle behind the pumpkin, paint a door so it looks like a house. Next the class were given a pumpkin shape “blue print” to paint a creative masterpiece with watercolors.
We have had the joy of watching the children discover, create, and explore their interests during morning discovery thus far. We decided to intentionally build provocations around what we see the children gravitate towards. They had adventures in animal world, building world, and art of color mixing. It was amazing to see how the children took to each provocation with wonder and amazement in their eyes.
On Thursday we readThe Magical Yet. A beautiful story about encouraging children to keep trying and keep going even if it gets hard. The “Yet” grows with you. After the story the children had an opportunity to draw a picture about something they are determined to accomplish by themselves.
PS Have a wonderful weekend,
Miss Airry, Miss Claire, and Miss Meredith
