Dear PS Families,
There was never a more true statement for this PS group than “teamwork makes the dreamwork”. These kiddos have been showing how supportive they are of each other’s ideas and plans through pitching in, negotiations, and compliments. After the Early Childhood teachers visited a nature-based school in Kentucky this past weekend, we were inspired to add more natural elements to both the interior and exterior of our classroom. The students have been busy collecting all kinds of treasures, so we created a space in the room where they can all land. We know that our new Science center will be full of wonder and explorations as it continues to grow. Outside, the stumps have become quite the gathering place as they have been rolled and moved to make different scenarios. The students have been working hard to figure out the easiest ways to move them, helping each other all along the way. As Romeo excitedly exclaimed, “Teamwork makes the dreamwork!” and we couldn’t agree more! PS wants to give a big thank you to Mr. Buck and his workers for providing us with such beautiful stumps!
As we started a new month this week, we wrapped up our September self-portraits. We first read Marc Colagiovanni and Peter Reynold’s, The Reflection in Me, reminding us that the real magic always comes from within. The students were then invited to bring together all of the individual pieces of their self explorations in the way that they felt best, carefully adding glue to the backs of each section. The finished product is quite the unique masterpiece with a definite feel of Pablo Picasso and we cannot get enough! We then completed our first journal entry using the question, What is your favorite part of you? The students took a few mindful moments to think about what is they love about themselves the most and we were blown away by their responses. Their thoughts went way beyond their physical characteristics, taking us to place that shared something deeper about each one of them. We can’t wait to have their responses up for Special Person’s Day to see if our visitors can guess their answers.
Lastly, we spent some time preparing for our special visitors. The kiddos have shown themselves to be quite the creative bunch, and we are embracing every moment. We cannot reveal what they have been working on, but trust us, it is going to be very special!
We hope you all enjoy your long weekend and see you on Tuesday!
With love,
Miss Claire, Miss Airry, and Miss Meredith
