๐ฌ โWhat did you learn at school?โ Conversation Starters:
- Whatโs a word that uses โarโ in it?
- Which number is greater? 67 or 36? Why??
- Whatโs the setting of your fiction story?
- What is a Mad Lib?
- What kind of animal adaptation would you want to have and why?
- Whatโs one ingredient you need to make gluten-free pumpkin pancakes?
The weather was BEAUTIFUL and we were so excited to take full advantage of it. We played outside, learned outside, and just genuinely enjoyed the beauty of the outdoors every chance we got. We did SO much, but here are some highlights:
๐ Phonics: We explored the /ar/ sound as in car, sharp, and farm. Students practiced identifying and reading words with this r-controlled vowel
โ Math: We focused on comparing numbers using greater than, less than, and equal to. We also looked for patterns when counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s. The students had a blast discovering these number patterns through games and challenge sheets!
โ๏ธ Writing: Our classroom has been bursting with creativity as we dove into fiction writing! From Cat Girl to Bakery Mischief and even Mutated Chicken Nuggets, the studentsโ stories are as imaginative as they are entertaining. Weโre working on using descriptive language and story structure to bring each tale to life!
๐ Grammar: Mad Libs have officially taken over! Students are having so much fun filling in nouns, verbs, and adjectives to create the silliest stories. Theyโre laughing and learning!! What could be better?
๐ Deep Dive: We read several books from Sandra Markleโs โWhat If You Had Animalโฆโ series, sparking curiosity and creativity with exploring the world with animal teeth, eyes, and tails. Students designed their own unique versions of themselves with special animal adaptations. We saw everything from kids with cat ears and whiskers to chameleon eyes!
๐ฅ Kids in the Kitchen: Pumpkin pancakes were the highlight of the week! The gluten-free recipe was a hit, and the classroom smelled like fall. The students measured, mixed, and munched their way through a delicious morning of learning.
