What better way to learn about the community than to see it in person for ourselves! On Wednesday we visited our Northern Branch classroom which is located in the heart of downtown Wheeling. We got to witness the busy streets right from the classroom window. We toured the Ohio County Library and ventured down to the waterfront playground. On our walks we witnessed many community helpers in action, noted the signs & monuments, and walked past many buildings. We even got to see construction workers in action. Our class has loved learning about what makes a community and the amazing helpers who make it run. We welcomed our last community helper, Mrs. Rachel an ER VET! Students got to review X-rays of items that were swallowed by cats and dogs. They all received stethoscopes and checked Boone’s (their family dog) heartbeat!
We look forward to finishing our Deep Dive and welcoming families on the morning of October 24th from 8:30-9:00 a.m. for our Career Day! Please have your child to school by 8:15 that morning so we can prepare for this event. It will be a casual walk-through and we will begin our school day right at 9. Students are welcome to dress as their profession or bring items if they wish (optional). We look forward to showcasing their hopes and dreams for their future!
Students are excited for our Simmon’s Farm Field trip on October 23rd! We will be traveling by bus and will leave promptly at 9:00. We should arrive by 10 am and will be departing around 2 pm. Students should wear comfortable clothing and shoes that are appropriate for the weather. They should also come to school with a labeled disposable snack/lunch/water bottle. If you plan to meet us there, please just give us a heads up.
It was so AMAZING welcoming all the Special Guests into our classrooms. We were so excited to celebrate the wonderful people who have shaped the lives of our students. We celebrated by recalling memories they have shared together. They placed these in a “Memory Jar” that was decorated and will serve as a keep-sake in years to come.
We hope you have a wonderful weekend!
