PHONICS/MATH BUZZ
What a short but fun-filled week it’s been in SK! Our learners were busy little bees in phonics — some continued practicing the word families /am/ and /an/, while others explored the sounds /j/ and /o/. Everyone worked hard and made great progress!
In math, we kept the excitement going with a game called “Slap It, Count It, Write It!” Staying true to our bug theme, students split into two teams, each armed with a fly swatter. When a number was called, they had to slap it, count it, and write it — all while cheering each other on! What a fun way to practice counting to 20. 🪰✨
We’ve got some competitive little mathematicians in SK — the energy and enthusiasm were absolutely contagious!
SPECIAL PERSONS’ DAY
Laughs, smiles, giggles, and endless curiosity filled our classroom — Special Persons Day has come and gone, and what a truly wonderful day it was! We loved meeting each and every special person who plays such an important role in our littles’ lives.
Our day was filled with meaningful moments and creativity. Together, we made ornaments for the tree in downtown Wheeling, spreading a little extra holiday cheer to our community. We also shared the beautiful book “Grateful for You” by M.H. Clark — a touching story that may have brought a tear (or two!) to a few eyes. ❤️
Then came our symmetry art project, where each child drew half of their special person’s face, and the adult completed the other side with their child’s portrait. The finished masterpieces were framed in unique frames that were decorated by our kiddos — keepsakes that will be treasured forever.
To wrap up the day, our littles had a blast with Mr. Alex, our Drama teacher, exploring puppets and acting out fun scenes. There was so much laughter and joy in the room!
It was a day full of connection, creativity, and gratitude — one we won’t soon forget!
