- Tuesday, November 11th- No school- Professional Development for teachers
Dear Preschool Families,
The last few weeks have been very busy for our little learners, preparing for our visitors on Special Person’s Day and creating a fabulous pumpkin for Vantoberfest. Congrats to Romeo’s family for placing the highest bid and getting to take our magical pumpkin home. We just love how it came together and how it encompassed all of the students’ creative ideas.
It is definitely feeling like Fall on campus, especially with the wind blowing and the leaves falling. The students continue to show a love for being outside in nature and are always on the lookout for more natural “treasures”. Black walnuts that have been nibbled by squirrels and chipmunks, buckeyes that are smooth to the touch, and of course, leaves! There were lots of leaves gathered at the playground, especially by the creek and big tree, ranging in size from tiny to giant. Some were even as big as our heads! The students were very curious about the colors and the veins of each one and shared their opinions of what should be done with them. Most wanted to paint them, so we set up an invitation to add marks and designs with paint markers. These revamped treasures have definitely added a lovely and cozy Autumn touch to our classroom. A plethora of laminated leaves have also ignited lots of discussions at the light table with the focus on the colors and make-up of each one.
Having already painted our little pumpkins, we gave them an extra splash of color with lots of glitter! Each student carefully painted glue on their pumpkin and then sprinkled a touch of sparkle here and there. We have a final step coming next week and we cannot wait to see how they turn out. Stay tuned!
What better way to celebrate all things Fall by heading to a garden center. We want to shout a big “thank you” to Mr. PJ, Miss Nicky, and Miss Deb at Nicky’s Garden Center for having us as their last school group of this season. The students were able to grind up apples to make apple cider, taste the cider, explore the different kinds of pumpkins in the patch, decorate a pumpkin with stickers and glitter, and warm up by the cozy fire. While the morning was definitely a little chilly, we are so glad we got to spend that time together. Thank you for coming along with us!
With Halloween just around the corner (yikes!), costumes have been all the talk amongst the students. Dragons, witches, werewolves, and Spiderman have been mentioned as some of the chosen ones, but the teachers were still stumped on what to wear themselves. To help us out, we used another journal entry to get some ideas from the students. Here is what they suggested:
Romeo- princesses at my house
Luella- Pickle juice
Cam- ghosts/dino
Sasha- Rapunzel
Odessa- I’m making Miss Claire a princess, Miss Airry maybe a pickle, or Cinderella, and I think Miss Meredith should be a pickle.
Emma- Miss Claire be Cinderella, Miss Airry can be a ghost, and Miss Meredith can be a horse! Ha! Ha!
Sloane- Beetlejuice
Robert- Miss Airry, she’s gonna actually be a princess, Miss Meredith should be a pickle, and Miss Claire, she’s actually a robot.
Theo- pumpkin head
Alex- skeletons
Tory- Miss Airry is gonna be a waitress, Miss meredith can be a lollipop, and Miss Claire is gonna be a costume for Elsa.
Stone- Beetlejuice
Preston- shh shhh (Spiderman)
Addie- princess
Khy- a werewolf
Roman- werewolf pickles
So many fun options and we cannot wait to surprise the kiddos with what we decided to go with.
We hope you enjoy your weekend! See you on Monday!
