    • Pickup at middle school
  • Wednesday, December 17 – Holiday Show on Main Campus!! Mark Your Calendars! More information below.
  • Friday, December 19 – Half Day – Winter Break!

On Friday, December 12, students are invited to dress as elves for our We-2 Program in the morning—no need to buy anything new; any fun, festive wear is fine! After lunch, we’ll travel by van to WCDS Middle School to spend the afternoon ice skating. Parents are asked to pick up their child from the middle school in Wheeling Park at the end of the day. Students are welcome to bring a change of clothes, their own ice skates (if they have them), and a small amount of cash for a stop at Starbucks. If your child needs to go to aftercare, we will take them back to main campus in the van.

Holiday Show Information: We will have practice after school next week on Monday and Wednesday, as well as the Monday prior to the show. The night of the show, December 17, students are permitted to go home after school, and are asked to return to the community room by 5:30 pm ready to go in costume. They can leave their costumes in the classroom or take them home. The show begins at 6:00 pm.

As we head into our holiday show, we’d love to keep the festive spirit going with a small student after-party in our classroom on Thursday, December 18! We’re planning to celebrate wrapping the show with snacks, drinks, and a few fun, age-appropriate games. If you’re willing to donate any treats, beverages, or let us borrow a board game for the class to enjoy, we would greatly appreciate it. Please feel free to email me at kwallace@wcsdsedu.com or send a message through TalkingPoints if you’d like to contribute snacks or drinks. Thank you for helping make our pre-break celebration extra special!

  • Students are learning about persuasive writing techniques and various grammar concepts
  • Challenged to write a five-paragraph persuasive essay about why Santa should hire them for their dream job as an elf in the North Pole
  • Students are to be reading and completing their own independent reading novel by the last day of school before Winter Break

Drama:

  • On Monday, we will begin practicing with microphones and props for the holiday show
  • Please help your child read through their lines and practice knowing what lines come before theirs which prompts them to speak
  • Some of our children are still not off book (have lines memorized) and this doesn’t help their confidence while on stage
  • What is your elf name and what job are you applying for?!
  • What is the Order of Operations?
  • What acronym do you use to remember the order?
  • How has it felt practicing on stage for the show?!
  • Did you need to be prompted for any of your lines during rehearsal?
