We’re getting ready to wrap up the season with some festive fun during our final week before winter break! Each day has its own special theme, and we can’t wait to see everyone’s cozy and creative outfits:

  • Monday (December 15th): Warm Winter Cozy Casual – Think soft sweaters, comfy clothes, and all things snuggly!
  • Tuesday (December 16th): Santa vs. Grinch – Choose your team by wearing red for Santa or green for the Grinch!
  • Wednesday (December 17th): Festive Holiday Headwear – Bring out the antlers, hats, lights, and all the holiday headbands!
  • Thursday (December 18th): Sweater Day – Ugly, cute, silly, or sparkly… sweaters of all kinds are welcome!
  • Friday (December 19th): Pajama Day – End the week in ultimate comfort with your favorite school-appropriate pajamas.

Multiplication Math Adventures:
We are continuing our journey into multiplication and have officially reached the number 8! Students are exploring different strategies to solve multiplication problems, including arrays, equal groups, and hands-on activities. We even got to play some Kahoot games to practice our multiplication skills!

Informational Writing & Freeze Lab Prep:
In writing, we dove deeper into informational writing—perfect timing as we begin preparing for our Third Grade Freeze Lab! Each student selected an explorer and eagerly jumped into research. We started by brainstorming, tapping into prior knowledge, and becoming detectives to uncover new and exciting facts. We can’t wait to show off our new explorer knowledge next week!

Reading & Book Clubs:
Our book clubs finished their first book on Friday! Our students enjoyed their roles. Whether they’re serving as the Word Wizard, Question Captain, or another important role, each reader is contributing to their group in meaningful ways. Be sure to ask your child what book they read during book club and which job they have.

Phonics Focus:
This week in phonics, we focused on the “ie” spelling pattern that makes the long i sound—like in tie, pie, fries, and flies. We won’t lie, our third graders are absolute spelling machines these days!

 Deep Dive: Explorers
Our Deep Dive unit on explorers is wrapping up soon, but not before we learn even more about who these explorers were, when they lived, and the impact they made on the world. We’ve been so lucky to have Mrs. White join us for this adventure, and we’re all looking forward to sharing our learning during the Freeze Lab on December 17th at 2:30 PM!

December Joy & Kindness
Even with all our hard work, we’ve made time for some December fun. On Monday, we headed over to first grade to help turn their classroom into a winter wonderland as they prepared for their EC Holiday Night! We love watching our third graders be such great cougar buddies to our first graders. Our classroom has a special visitor—the Kindness Snowman! Each day he brings us a new kindness task, and our students have loved spreading joy across campus while learning meaningful ways to be kind to others.

Thank you for sharing your amazing children with us. Their enthusiasm warms our classroom even on the chilliest winter days. We can’t wait for more joyful moments ahead!

Enjoy your weekend and see you on Monday!
